RIMPAC

This past Monday we had off so we took the boat out of the South Shore - Waikiki/Pearl Harbor. The prior week was RIMPAC. This happens every two years. Ships and submarines from various countries all come here for exercises. They were all docked in Pearl Harbor the prior week so that they could have shore leave and the exercises started on Monday. The countries here are Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Korea, Singapore, .. that's all I can think of. Well we saw three ships come out but didn't take pictures as they were quite a way from us. Then we looked up and a submarine was very close so I took some shuts. This was a Australian sub which is the first picture. Steve found out at work the next day that it was the HMAS Waller. When we were by Waikiki another sub was coming out and this one was even closer. I was concerned thinking it might hit us but Steve said they were all aware we were there and were tracking us and figuring out what heading to take to avoid us. This was a US sub the Key West. (it used to be one of Steve's boats when he was in Squadron 7). Many F-18s flew over us as did two P3 Sub chasers. It was a very neat day!
